Who’s behind the event?

PolyFinances
PolyFinances is the finance specialization program at Polytechnique Montréal, uniting engineering students passionate about understanding and transforming financial markets.
Its members actively manage a real portfolio exceeding $120,000, while organizing conferences, simulations, and competitions to bridge engineering and applied finance.

What to Build

It will be announced on the day the Datathon begins, November 1, 2025.

What to Submit

Teams must submit the following deliverables:

DevPost submission: Sunday, November 2 – 22:59 (ET)

  1. Online Deployed Tool – Publicly accessible web application link.

  2. Source Code – GitHub repository with documentation and a short build guide.

Email submission: Monday, November 3 – 14:00 (ET)

  1. Demo Video (≤ 5 minutes) – Show how your application works, explain your architecture, and demonstrate real insights.

  2. Technical Documentation (PDF) – System architecture, AWS setup, components, and design choices.

  3. One-Pager (PDF) – Concise overview of your solution, including problem statement, key features, and benefits.

Judging Criteria

  • Financial intelligence: relevance & explainability
    Analyses must be useful, clear, and easy to understand, with choices explained simply and models that are transparent to build trust and support decision-making.
  • Use of AWS technologies & services
    The architecture must be solid, modular, and well-designed, make efficient use of AWS services, integrate easily with other environments, and remain performant and reliable even at scale.
  • User experience & application performance
    The application must be fast, stable, and responsive, provide clear visualizations that highlight financial impacts, and offer a smooth, consistent, and intuitive experience from start to finish.
  • Presentation, storytelling & tool showcase
    The presentation must be clear and impactful, tell a compelling story that showcases the tool, highlight its unique strengths, and stand out through a professional and polished format.
